The Biggest Mistakes New Podcasters Make

The world of podcasting can be exciting and rewarding. It is a great way to share your message and make your voice heard.

It can also be overwhelming and confusing. After hours of Googling, watching YouTube tutorials, and overcoming the tech obstacles, most podcasters are just excited for it to be over.

We get it; the launch process can be hard. We want to make it easier! Here are the biggest mistakes we see new podcasters make.

1. Picking The Wrong Topic

Many podcasters pick a topic they can’t commit to. If you run out of content, you run out of shows. One way you can discover if a topic is right for you is to write out at least 10-15 show ideas. If you can come up with ten episodes out of the gate, it is a good indicator that the topic is a good fit.

2. Not Following Apple Guidelines

Apple has a strict protocol all podcasters have to follow. One wrong step and your show will be kicked out of the Apple directory. Be sure to research all the rules Apple has put in place before your show launches.

3. Wrong Cohost

Many people select the wrong cohost for their show. Everyone wants to start a podcast with their best friend. But are you a good fit on the mic? Or, you may have great conversations, but they may be a flake. Try doing a test episode first. See if they are as committed as you are, and see if your chemistry comes across on the mic.

4. Not Getting Help

Podcasting may not be as easy as you thought it was going to be. Ask for help! Join our 3-day online training and learn our step by step process that has launched multiple #1 Podcast. Join the class now! CLICK HERE.

5. Not Creating A Game Plan

Over half of all podcasters stop their show after the first three episodes. This is referred to in the industry as “pod-fading.” Constancy is key for gaining your listener’s trust and for dominating the podcast space. Get an accountability partner, carve out time in your schedule and make a plan. Your message matters! Make a commitment to yourself and keep podcasting.
